Grade 8 test scores for Spring, 2005 show the following Fulton County middle schools to have the highest percentage of students performing at or above grade level in all five subjects tested (Reading, English, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science).  These schools show at least 90% of all students performing at or above grade level for each subject area.  Those with an asterisk* next to them show at least 95% of students performing at or above grade level for all five subjects (in alphabetical order):

Iowa Tests of Basic Skills (ITBS)
About the tests. The Iowa Tests of Basic Skills are norm-referenced tests. Georgia law mandates that a nationally norm-referenced test, such as the ITBS, be administered annually to students in grades three, five, and eight. The purpose of a norm-referenced test is to obtain information about the performance of Georgia's students and compare it with that of students in a national sample. The results are used for evaluation, decision-making, and instructional improvement.
Understanding the scores. The scores are reported in percentiles and show how students compared with other students across the nation. For example, if a percentile score was 66, that school achieved a score that was as high as or higher than 66 percent of the other schools in the nation.

Below are the Fulton County Middle Schools with average percentile rankings at or above 70% for each of the five subject areas tested (Reading, Math, Language, Social Studies, and Science).  This information is based on Fall 2004 test scores.
